Jack B. Briggs was born on October 6, 1948, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to Jack Briggs and Jewel Newman Briggs. From the very beginning, he carried a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural gift for bringing joy to those around him.
After completing his formal education, Jack went on to join the United States Army. Jack proudly served in the Army for several years during the Vietnam War. He notably received a National Defense Service Medal and received the special designation of Sharpshooter (Rifle M-16). After his military service, Jack worked in various roles, including home improvement renovations, maintenance, carpentry, among others throughout his life. He truly was a "jack of all trades," always finding ways to accomplish any task placed before him.
Jack was a man of quiet strength, wisdom, and many talents. He found joy in life's simple blessings and took pride in sharing his time, laughter, and guidance with others. Whether spending time with loved ones, offering advice, or simply enjoying good company, Jack embraced each moment fully and lived with sincerity and purpose.
Family meant everything to Jack. He especially loved caring for the children in the family and took great pride in helping shape and encourage the next generation. He was a source of wisdom, humor, and unwavering support — the kind of man you could always count on. His legacy lives on not only in what he accomplished, but in the lives, he touched and the values he instilled.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved sisters, Mary Briggs and Berneice Briggs.
Jack leaves to cherish his memory his life partner, Betty McDonald; his daughter, Jasmine McDonald; his treasured grandchildren, Ja'Mara Youngblood, Ja'Zayah Pettis, Draylen Pettis, De'Mari Parks, and Danzi Parks; his siblings, Frank Briggs, Larry Briggs, Mildred Briggs Levy, Louise Briggs, Piccola Briggs, Rose Briggs, Bobbi Jean Briggs, Sandy Briggs, Edward Williams, Michael Williams, and George Williams; his aunt Ruth Newman; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Today, we celebrate a life filled with love, strength, and devotion. Though he will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will continue to live on in each of us. His life was meaningful, his presence powerful, and his memory everlasting.
